More than half a million people ed the London Nakba March 2025 on 17 May, to mark 77 years since the 1948 displacement of Palestinians, known as the Nakba, or “catastrophe.”
Marchers gathered at Embankment and moved along the South Bank to Westminster Bridge and ending at 10 Downing Street.
More than 750,000 Palestinians were expelled, and forces destroyed around 500 villages during that time.
Marchers drew connections between the historic Nakba and the ongoing crisis in Gaza, where nearly two million people have been displaced amid widespread destruction.
Speakers emphasised the importance of ing the Nakba not only as a historical event but as a living reality tied to present-day injustices faced by Palestinians.
The event served as both a memorial and a call to action.
Watch below as participants explain why they marched and what the Nakba means to them today.
